Downpour expected in Istanbul on Sunday: Warning from Meteorology
The General Directorate of Meteorology has announced that showers and thunderstorms will be effective in the northern, inner, and eastern regions over the weekend. While no precipitation is expected in Istanbul on Friday and Saturday, showers are forecast for Sunday.
According to the latest assessments by the General Directorate of Meteorology, showers and thunderstorms will be seen in the northern, inner, and eastern parts of Turkey over the weekend. Weather Forecasting Expert Fevzi Burak Tekin pointed out that precipitation will be particularly effective in Istanbul on Sunday.
According to the information provided by Tekin, showers are expected on Friday in the inner regions of the Western Mediterranean, the coastal parts of the Central Black Sea, the Eastern Black Sea, and the east of Eastern Anatolia. On Saturday, precipitation is expected to continue in the inner parts of the Western Mediterranean, the Eastern Mediterranean, the east of Central Anatolia, the Eastern Black Sea, and the northwest of Eastern Anatolia. There is also a possibility of precipitation in the vicinity of Edirne, Kırklareli, and Tekirdağ. Precipitation is expected to be heavy in the vicinity of Trabzon, Rize, Kars, Ardahan, Erzurum, and Erzincan.
FLOODING MAY OCCUR
On Sunday, a new wave of precipitation is expected in the northern, inner, and eastern regions. It was reported that precipitation will again be severe in the Eastern Black Sea and the north of Eastern Anatolia. Tekin said, “Heavy rainfall can lead to floods, water inundation, lightning, hail, strong winds, and disruptions in transportation. We advise our citizens to be cautious.”
In Southeastern Anatolia, dust transport is expected on Friday and Saturday. It was stated that this situation could cause negative effects such as a decrease in air quality and a drop in visibility.
While no precipitation is expected in Istanbul on Friday and Saturday, showers and thunderstorms are expected to be effective on Sunday. It was reported that temperatures will hover around 28 degrees on Friday, 26 on Saturday, and 25-26 degrees on Sunday.
In Ankara, no precipitation is expected over the weekend. Partly cloudy and clear weather will prevail in the capital. It was stated that temperatures will drop to 33 degrees on Friday, 29 on Saturday, and 25 degrees on Sunday.
In Izmir, no precipitation is expected throughout the weekend. It was noted that temperatures in the city will vary between 32 and 35 degrees and strong winds will blow from the north.
