Downpours and strong winds in many regions of the country

In the middle of June, the face of the weather across Turkey is changing once again. On Friday, June 19, as cloudiness increases in the northern, inner, and western regions of the country, downpours and thunderstorms will be seen, particularly in the southern and inner parts of the Aegean, the inner regions of the Mediterranean, the south of Central Anatolia, the vicinity of Eskişehir, and the west of Ankara. These rains are expected to be strong in some places.

While temperatures are expected to remain at average levels in many cities, the intensity of winds blowing from the north on the Marmara and North Aegean coasts, and from the south in Eastern Anatolia, may occasionally reach 40-60 kilometers per hour. For this reason, attention is drawn to risks such as roof dislodgement and the toppling of trees or poles.

In regions where heavy rainfall is expected, meteorological authorities have urged citizens to be cautious due to potential floods, local hail, lightning, and sudden winds during rainfall, and have warned them against possible disruptions in transportation.

Local thunderstorms may be severe at times in the west of Turkey, the east of Marmara, the inner parts of the Western Black Sea, and around Sinop. For the Southern Aegean, the Mediterranean, and the northern neighbors of Central Anatolia, rainfall will be intermittent and locally effective. In the eastern parts, partly or mostly clear weather generally prevails, but short-term showers may be seen in the afternoon around Erzurum and Kars.

Southeastern Anatolia will have a cloudless and hot day; thermometers will show 37-38 degrees in Siirt, Diyarbakır, and Şanlıurfa.

The expected temperatures in cities across different parts of the country are as follows: - Istanbul: 25°C, partly cloudy and local downpours - Izmir: Will reach 31°C, partly very cloudy - Ankara: 25°C, downpours will be more effective in the western parts during the day - Adana: 31°C, intermittent heavy rains may be seen - Antalya: 28°C, rains will be locally strong in the inner parts - Diyarbakır and Şanlıurfa: Around 37°C, clear and sunny - Erzurum: 27°C, possibility of short-term showers in the afternoon

Citizens are advised to take current weather conditions into account, especially for journeys and outdoor activities coinciding with evening hours. It was emphasized that those living in the inner parts of the Aegean and Mediterranean, as well as the south of Central Anatolia, should be careful against floods and inundations.

Those located on the Marmara and North Aegean coasts, where the effect of the wind will increase, were warned again to take precautions against roof dislodgements and objects that could topple over. In the high parts of Eastern Anatolia, the wind will be felt strongly from southern directions.
