Driver fined 309 thousand TL climbs construction site and attempts suicide

The young man, whose vehicle was banned from traffic, then climbed to the fourth floor of a construction site, prompting emergency teams to take action.

During a traffic enforcement operation in the Filyos town of Zonguldak’s Çaycuma district, 24-year-old T.T. failed to comply with a gendarmerie “stop” order and attempted to flee by changing lanes dangerously. The driver was caught after a short pursuit, and proceedings were initiated against him for various violations.

T.T. was issued a total administrative fine of 309 thousand lira for reckless driving, failing to obey warnings, and driving with an insufficient driver's license. Additionally, the driver's vehicle and license were confiscated for 60 days. Judicial proceedings were also initiated in connection with the incident on charges of “endangering traffic safety.”

CLIMBED TO THE ROOF OF THE CONSTRUCTION SITE

During the proceedings, T.T. climbed to the roof of a nearby four-story construction site, causing dangerous moments. Upon notification, medical teams and reinforcement gendarmerie units were dispatched to the area.

RESISTED PERSUASION EFFORTS

It was learned that during the teams' persuasion attempts, T.T. occasionally caused difficulties for the officers and tried to pull down the personnel attempting to bring him down.

BROUGHT DOWN AFTER LONG EFFORTS

As a result of the long-lasting efforts of the officers, T.T. was brought down from where he was located safely and handed over to medical teams. A comprehensive investigation has been launched regarding the incident, which was also captured on mobile phone cameras.
