Driver who hit 16-year-old girl and fled in Bursa arrested
Efe Ş. (18), an unlicensed driver who hit and severely injured 16-year-old Zeynep Nas Sarıkaya in the Nilüfer district of Bursa on September 9 and then fled the scene, has been arrested after turning himself in to the police.
The incident occurred on September 9, 2024, on Fatih Sultan Mehmet Boulevard in the Nilüfer district. Efe Ş. (18), who was driving his father's luxury pick-up truck, allegedly accelerated to avoid a red light. During this time, the young driver struck 16-year-old Zeynep Nas Sarıkaya, who was attempting to cross the street. The girl was thrown by the impact and severely injured, while the driver fled the scene. Bystanders rushed to help the injured girl and contacted 112 emergency services.

Sarıkaya, who was taken to the hospital by medical teams in critical condition, was placed under treatment at a private hospital.

After Efe Ş. turned himself in to the police station some time later and was released under judicial control by the prosecutor's office, the pain of the family, who were waiting hopefully in front of the hospital, was compounded.

UNLICENSED DRIVER ARRESTED
Efe Ş., who was taken into custody by teams from the Bursa Provincial Police Department's Nilüfer District Police Department, was arrested by the duty magistrate on charges of 'causing injury resulting in life-threatening danger through conscious negligence.'
