Drove into the crowd: Deportation decision for 6 people following the fight in Gaziantep

Following a fight between two groups of foreign nationals in Gaziantep, during which a vehicle drove into the crowd, 6 of the 9 suspects detained have been handed over to the Migration Management Directorate for deportation. Drove into the crowd: Deportation decision for 6 people following the fight in Gaziantep

Violent incidents that occurred on the night of February 16 in the Şirinevler neighborhood of Gaziantep's Şehitkamil district caused great panic in the area. According to allegations, a verbal argument that started for an unknown reason between two groups of foreign nationals quickly spiraled out of control. As the argument escalated, the parties engaged in a fight involving knives and clubs.

Upon local residents noticing the situation and reporting it to the 112 Emergency Call Center, numerous police and medical teams were dispatched to the region.

A VEHICLE DROVE INTO THE CROWD DURING THE FIGHT

The events that took place during the intensifying fight were terrifying. A vehicle arrived at the scene at high speed and drove into the people fighting. As a result of the vehicle's impact, many people were injured, and fear and panic prevailed in the neighborhood. A total of 9 people were injured due to knife and club blows, battery, and the vehicle's impact. In connection with the incident, 9 foreign national suspects were detained.

6 SUSPECTS HANDED OVER TO MIGRATION MANAGEMENT FOR DEPORTATION

Of the suspects whose procedures at the police station were completed, 6 were handed over to the Migration Management Directorate to be deported. While house arrest was ordered for one of the suspects, one person was released. It was reported that the procedures for the other suspect are ongoing.

LARGE-SCALE PEACE AND SECURITY OPERATION IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Following the events, teams from the Gaziantep Police Department launched a large-scale peace and security operation in the region. Within the scope of the operation, 2 thousand 260 people and 303 vehicles were questioned, and 2 people with outstanding arrest warrants were apprehended. During the inspections, a total of 259 thousand 251 TL in fines were issued to 17 vehicle drivers, and proceedings were initiated against 33 businesses determined to be operating in violation of regulations.
