Drug operation at Istanbul Airport: Cocaine seized

Ministry of Trade Customs Enforcement teams conducted a drug operation at Istanbul Airport. During the operation carried out by the Mail/Cargo NARKOKİM teams in the Airport's Cargo-Goods section, 455 kilograms and 200 grams of cocaine were seized.

The Ministry of Trade provided details of the operation in a public statement. The statement included the following remarks:

“In an operation organized by the Ministry of Trade Customs Enforcement Mail/Cargo NARKOKİM teams at the Istanbul Airport Cargo-Goods section, a total of 455.2 kilograms of cocaine was seized. The investigation into the incident is being conducted under the coordination of the Gaziosmanpaşa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.”

The Ministry's statement further noted that the fight against drug trafficking is being pursued with determination. Emphasizing the fight against smuggling, particularly on an international scale, the following statement was made:

“The Ministry of Trade Customs Enforcement Teams, which successfully carry out efforts to combat drug trafficking—a major threat to the entire world that targets humanity—on an international level, continue to strike blows against drug traffickers who pose a major threat to human health and welfare and provide a source of financing for terrorist organizations.”

INVESTIGATION CONTINUES

Details regarding which country or countries the large quantity of seized cocaine was sent from and on whose behalf it was being transported have not yet been shared. The Gaziosmanpaşa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, which is conducting the investigation, is carrying out a comprehensive inquiry to uncover the network behind the shipment.
