Dump truck hits road sign: Traffic on highway comes to a halt
In an accident that occurred on the Sarıyer section of the Northern Marmara Highway, traffic in the lanes heading toward the Anatolian Side came to a complete standstill after a road sign was knocked over. Teams dispatched to the scene are continuing their work.
In Sarıyer, a dump truck traveling on the Northern Marmara Highway near the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge struck a directional road sign at the Uskumruköy exit. Due to the impact of the crash, the large sign collapsed and debris from the truck was scattered across the road.
As a result of this incident, traffic flow in the direction of the Anatolian Side was completely halted. Vehicles are not being permitted to pass, and long queues of traffic have formed on the highway.
Following reports from other drivers who witnessed the accident, medical teams, police, and officials from the General Directorate of Highways were quickly dispatched to the area. The teams, who closed the road to traffic for safety reasons, are continuing their efforts to remove both the sign and the debris from the truck and to clear the road.
While information regarding whether there were any injuries in the incident has not yet been clarified, it was learned that the road will remain closed until the teams complete their operation.
