'Earn money from home' trap continues: Warning from İŞKUR

The "home packaging job" lie, which has recently become one of the methods frequently used by fraudsters, continues to victimize thousands of citizens.

The fraudsters, who lure citizens into their trap with promises of earning between 26,000 and 44,000 TL per month, request the citizens' Turkish ID numbers, addresses, phone numbers, and bank account numbers.

THEY ASK FOR 450 TL AT FIRST

The fraudsters, who then ask the victims to deposit a small amount like 450 TL as a down payment to start the job, secondly promise that they must deposit a 5,000 TL security fee to supposedly guarantee the products they will send, and that they will return this fee along with the earnings once the citizen packages and sends the products back.

If the citizen accepts this, they then demand a new fee for the third time under the name of an additional tax. If the citizen refuses to send any of these requested fees after accepting the job and sharing their information with the other party, the fraudsters intimidate the citizen by claiming they will file a lawsuit for causing financial loss to the company, thereby forcing them to send money.

THEY PROMISE SIDE JOBS

Furthermore, it has been observed that as a new method, fraudsters have started placing advertisements claiming "no deposit or down payment required." In this scenario, the fraudsters ask the citizens to open a cryptocurrency account and give them the passwords, through which they quickly conduct money laundering operations, turning the people who applied to them for a side job into criminals.

According to the report by Barış Şimşek from Sabah Newspaper, the individuals who defraud citizens using this method create an impression that they are operating with authorization by uploading the logos of trusted institutions such as İŞKUR, the Social Security Institution, and the Ministry of Interior onto the websites they have set up.

WARNING FROM İŞKUR

İŞKUR, which had previously warned citizens against such fraud methods, stated in its announcement: "İŞKUR does not have a direct business model such as work from home, home packaging, or side jobs from home; please do not pay attention to job postings that use our institution's name and are not published on our website. Do not share your personal information with third parties who reach out to you regarding such advertisements."

Fraudsters also rank at the very top of search results by placing sponsored advertisements on the search engine Google. When citizens looking for side jobs enter a search into Google, these fraudulent sites are the first ones they encounter.
