Earthquake expert Naci Görür says 'do not worry'

According to information shared by AFAD, a 5.2-magnitude earthquake occurred in the Hama region of Syria at approximately 23:56.

The earthquake, which occurred at a depth of 19 kilometers, was felt in Hatay, Turkey's southernmost province, and in Gaziantep. Earthquake expert Prof. Dr. Naci Görür shared a post on social media regarding the earthquake.

In his post, earthquake expert Naci Görür said, "Successive earthquakes in Syria. The first was a foreshock, the other was the 5.5-magnitude main earthquake. The earthquakes are on the continuation of the Dead Sea Fault in Hatay and near Hama. The continuation of the Dead Sea Fault in Syria, excluding the faults on the Arabian Plate in Turkey, has broken. We geologists were expecting earthquakes in these areas. We do not expect any movement on the Dead Sea Fault near Hatay that could lead to a disaster; do not worry, with love."
