Earthquake in Çanakkale

Following the 4.9-magnitude earthquake in Yenice, Çanakkale, all teams from AFAD and our relevant institutions have begun field surveys. The earthquake was also felt in surrounding provinces. As of now, there are no negative reports.

STATEMENT FROM THE GOVERNOR OF ÇANAKKALE

Çanakkale Governor İlhami Aktaş stated that teams are continuing their field work following the 4.9-magnitude earthquake and that no negative situation has been detected so far.

The 4.9-magnitude earthquake, centered in the Yenice district of Çanakkale, was felt in Istanbul and its surroundings as well as in Çanakkale.

In Yenice, the epicenter of the earthquake, and its surroundings, citizens took to the streets. Çanakkale Governor İlhami Aktaş stated that teams are continuing their field work following the 4.9-magnitude earthquake and that no negative situation has been detected so far.

A citizen who felt the earthquake in Yenice described their experience by saying, "There was a short-lived tremor. We are currently waiting outside. We cannot enter our homes."
