Earthquake survivors hold 'yellow envelope' protest in front of AKP building: 'See you on March 31'

Citizens whose buildings were damaged and reported as moderately damaged in the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes that occurred on February 6 held a protest in front of the AKP provincial building.

According to the report in Cumhuriyet; citizens who demanded that their buildings be re-inspected under the supervision of the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB) and that the "unsuitable area" designation be lifted gathered in front of the AKP provincial headquarters yesterday. 

Holding signs that read "We will see you at the ballot box," the citizens left a symbolic ballot they had prepared inside a yellow envelope in front of the AKP provincial building. It was noted that the doors of the AKP provincial building were closed and no one was allowed inside during the protest.

"THE PUBLIC WAS NOT EVEN TAKEN SERIOUSLY OR GIVEN AN ANSWER"

A lawyer who did not want to give their name said, "We are currently in front of the AKP building. They are closing the doors, taking away our right to seek our rights, and no one is being let inside," while a platform manager stated, "Today, the public gathered here. Not even a window was opened at the party that came to power with the public's vote. The public was not even taken seriously or given an answer."
