A statement was made on the Governor's Office's social media account regarding the 6.2 magnitude earthquake, which had its epicenter in the Sea of Marmara, off the Silivri district of Istanbul.


The statement included the following: "Attention to our esteemed citizens. Please do not enter buildings that have been damaged or are suspected to be damaged due to the earthquake. Do not take your vehicle out into traffic unless necessary. Do not use mobile phone lines except in cases of emergency."
