Economic boycott by students: Consumption to be halted on April 2
The boycott call by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel has been taken a step further by university students. On Wednesday, April 2 (tomorrow), university students across Turkey will stage an economic boycott. The students announced that they will use their economic power by taking a one-day break from consumption after the holiday.
During the protests that began with the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and accelerated with his removal from office and subsequent arrest, many university students had started a "class boycott" in schools as a reaction.

Students have decided to move their boycotts on campuses to an economic boycott. University students in many provinces of Turkey will stage an economic boycott tomorrow, stating, "We are using our economic power and taking a one-day break from consumption after the holiday."

Among those calling for the economic boycott are student associations and clubs from many schools, ranging from Boğaziçi University to METU, and from Galatasaray University to Istanbul University.
