Ekrem İmamoğlu's lawyer Pehlivan detained

Mehmet Pehlivan, the lawyer for Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, has been detained.

CHP İstanbul Deputy Turan Taşkın Özer shared the news of the detention on his social media account, stating, "Another fabricated reason and another fabricated detention."

Özer stated, "Our Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu's lawyer, Mehmet Pehlivan, has been detained. No matter what you do, you will not be able to cover up the truth. The nation is greater!!!"

TAKEN TO VATAN POLICE HEADQUARTERS

It has been learned that Mehmet Pehlivan, the lawyer for Ekrem İmamoğlu who was detained in Istanbul, has been taken to the Vatan Police Headquarters.

FIRST STATEMENT FROM İMAMOĞLU

The first statement came from İmamoğlu following the detention of his lawyer. İmamoğlu, who is currently being held at Silivri Prison, said the following in a post on his social media account:

There is no end to the lies or slanders in the minds of those who impose bans. This time, my lawyer Mehmet Pehlivan has been detained on fabricated grounds. As if it were not enough that they carried out a coup against democracy, they cannot even tolerate the victims of this coup defending themselves. They want to add a legal coup to the democratic coup...
