Ekrem İmamoğlu's 'parliamentary system' message: 'This wretched era will eventually come to an end'

In the second wave of operations conducted against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), 51 people, including high-level officials, were detained.

A new post was shared on the social media account of IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is currently being held in Silivri Prison, regarding the ongoing process.

Emphasizing the economic crisis in Turkey, İmamoğlu said, "Why are we experiencing these things? Because of your dawn-raid mentality, your slanderous mindset, your disgrace, and your incompetence."

Asking, "For God's sake, where did you learn this evil? What do you want from the nation?" İmamoğlu stated, "The families and children of all my colleagues are entrusted first to God and then to the people of Istanbul. There are millions who will embrace, look after, protect, and watch over them all."

At the end of his post, addressing the citizens, İmamoğlu said, "This wretched era will eventually come to an end, and a just order will arrive. We will bring about a public order that is meritocratic, transparent, accountable, and faithful to the principle of separation of powers within a strong, democratic parliamentary system."

The statement made from İmamoğlu's account is as follows:

"You did not spend what belongs to the nation on the nation. You have no respect for rights, law, or justice. You have no respect for the Constitution. You have no respect for democracy and democratic institutions. You have no respect for the national will.

Investors are fleeing without looking back, and our nation is doubting the assets they have earned with their sweat. The wheels of the economy have stopped. Interest rates, inflation, and foreign exchange are all rising at the same time. No one can go to a match, the theater, or the cinema. No one can eat out in the evening with their spouse or child. You have officially brought life in the country to a standstill.

Why are we experiencing these things? Because of your dawn-raid mentality, your slanderous mindset, your disgrace, and your incompetence.

You detain people with raids in the dead of night; it is not enough that you arrest the father of the house, you throw the mother into a detention cell, and in your own mind, you are taking revenge on the children.

You are tormenting our bureaucrats, who have been raised with state discipline, by detaining them at dawn despite the fact that they have serious health problems and would have come immediately if you had invited them.

For God's sake, where did you learn this evil? What do you want from the nation?
