Ekrem İmamoğlu sends 'we will come to power' message in Adana: 'I will never give up'

Stating that the CHP has been a guide at important turning points in history with the inspiration it draws from Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, İmamoğlu took the stage to chants of 'There is no salvation alone, either all together or none of us.' Arguing that the current government prioritizes the interests of a privileged group, İmamoğlu stated that the education, health, and justice systems have collapsed and that the economic crisis has left citizens in misery. İmamoğlu noted that the way out of this situation is an early election.

Expressing that the attacks against Alawites in Syria are worrying, İmamoğlu emphasized that the CHP will fight in unity and solidarity. İmamoğlu called on CHP members to participate in the primary elections to be held on March 23 to determine the party's presidential candidate.

Starting his speech by taking off his jacket and rolling up his sleeves, İmamoğlu said the following:

''The CHP has always had its signature on the most important crossroads of history. The CHP, which has always been a guide with the strength and inspiration it receives from Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, is once again taking on a tremendous task at an important crossroads of history.

Our nation is in a miserable state because of this government that only cares about the interests of a privileged group. The way to get rich is by stepping on the poor. The economy is dragging down a cliff like a truck with failed brakes. Our citizens are being polarized. The education system, health system, and justice system are in pieces. The way out of this situation is again the CHP.''

'THE STATE IS DISAPPEARING STEP BY STEP'

Stating that the state is disappearing step by step, İmamoğlu emphasized that he proudly carries the trust of the CHP to put an end to this course of events. İmamoğlu said, 'I will never give up on this path.'

Underlining his trust in his party and his fellow travelers, İmamoğlu noted the following:

''As we watch the state disappear step by step, we, as soldiers who proudly carry the trust of the party on our chests, must put an end to this course. I am setting out on this journey with the peace of mind of trusting my party, to which I can turn my back, and my fellow travelers who can fight with me under any circumstances, and I will never give up on this path.

They ask, 'Are you not afraid at all?' Would Ekrem İmamoğlu fear anyone other than the Creator? He would not! We turn our backs to our nation and set out on the right path for the sake of our homeland and nation.''

'WE WILL SHOW OUR UNITY AND SOLIDARITY'

Stating that CHP members must be in unity and solidarity, İmamoğlu said, 'We will tear down this broken system.' İmamoğlu said he wants citizens to see the CHP as a determined, organized party that listens to their problems.

Emphasizing that they will come together with everyone who wants democracy and prosperity, İmamoğlu added the following:

''We will show that handful of people that the nation does not surrender to tyranny. We will tear down this broken system. First, we, the CHP members, will show our unity and solidarity all together. When people look at us, they will see a determined, organized party that listens to the troubles of its citizens. Then, we will integrate with everyone who wants democracy and prosperity. We will meet with everyone who defends the separation of powers and calls for a stronger parliament.''

REACTION TO THE GOVERNMENT REGARDING SYRIA

Touching upon the conflicts in Syria, İmamoğlu stated that the violence, especially against Alawites, is worrying. Saying that the clashes in Latakia and its surroundings have turned into a major wave of violence, İmamoğlu emphasized that Turkey should lead the establishment of a democratic and egalitarian structure in Syria.

Expressing that Turkey should be at the table but has remained insufficient in this regard, İmamoğlu stated the following:

''We do not and cannot turn a blind eye to what is happening in Syria right next to us. Wherever there is tyranny, we are against it. This ongoing process deeply affects our region, Syria, and at the same time, our country. Of course, we have historical ties and relatives, but we as a nation have always stood by the oppressed. The clashes currently ongoing in Latakia and its surroundings, and in Tartus, have turned into the largest wave of violence since December. The violence directed especially at Alawites living in Syria, the losses among the civilian population, and the possibility of massacres against minorities have been a source of great concern for the 86 million conscientious people of this country.

We can prioritize the establishment of a state in Syria where the Republic of Turkey is strong, democratic, where the principle of equality of the peoples there is protected, and where people live together without discrimination based on faith or ethnic origin. We said that for Turkey to do this, it must be at the table. We are worried; while Turkey should be the country that sets the table, it is in a position where it cannot find a chair at most tables. This is worrying.''

'OR ARE YOU AFRAID?'

Claiming that the legal process against the CHP stems from the government's 'fear,' İmamoğlu called for early elections in Adana, following İzmir. İmamoğlu pointed out that his real 'crime' is 'not being defeated at the ballot box.'

Saying that he will 'destroy the games set up with conspiracies, sedition, and malice,' İmamoğlu ended his speech with these words:

''I am not talking about blackmail or montages as you say. If my friends have been involved in the slightest injustice or illegality, come and open all the files, share all the information with the public. Let our nation see, I challenge you. But do not act with fabricated, secret witness statements, like the treatment of the FETÖ terrorist organization in the past.

You want us to enter the election without Ekrem İmamoğlu. Or are you afraid? They are trying to declare me a criminal. I know my crime. Since 2014 and 2019, I have only one crime: not being defeated at the ballot box. I will not be defeated by you.''
