Ekrem İmamoğlu's Kanal İstanbul outburst: 'I am declaring it from here...'

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu attended the opening of the Istanbul Art Museum at the Haliç Shipyard.

Following the opening, İmamoğlu made statements and gave messages regarding the current agenda.

"ISTANBUL HAS ENTERED A NEW PATH IN 5 YEARS"

"Istanbul, which has struggled with years of neglect and countless mistakes, I state very clearly, has entered a new path in the last 5 years," said İmamoğlu, adding, "Istanbul's historical and cultural heritage is now in safe hands. This unique heritage is now under the protection of experts and the public. For 5 years, we have been acting with a determination to bring all of Istanbul's historical and cultural heritage to light."

KANAL İSTANBUL MESSAGE

Explaining his projects in the field of culture and arts, İmamoğlu said, "One of the historical areas that Kanal İstanbul would swallow was the Azatlı Gunpowder Mill, which reflects Ottoman power. We are creating a brand new cultural space in the historical gunpowder mill."

Giving a message regarding the Kanal İstanbul Project, which AKP's İBB mayoral candidate Murat Kurum said they would "build" during his time as minister, İmamoğlu said, "I am declaring it from here; the Kanal İstanbul issue is something that keeps this nation awake at night, and we will rip it out of their minds, even by its very name."

10 NEW PROJECTS

İmamoğlu announced 10 new projects they will undertake in the field of culture and arts.

• 1- 128 new museum and art center projects,
• 2- 3 new Museum Gazhane,
• 3- Three new Archeoparks,
• 4- Curtains rising again in 4 historical theaters (Haldun Taner Stage, Muammer Karaca Theater, Reşat Nuri Stage, Kenter Theater)
• 5- 2nd phase to begin at Feshane
• 6- 9 new Pier Book Cafes
• 7- Culture and arts-focused Rumeli Fortress
• 8- Protection of burial grounds, graves, and tombs
• 9- A new institutional structure in the Historical Peninsula
• 10- Süleymaniye rising again
