Elderly man was killed with a cleaver in his home: His son-in-law turned out to be the killer

According to the information obtained, Cuma Han, 67, who lived alone in a detached single-story house on Murat Bildik Street in the Mehmet Akif Neighborhood after separating from his wife, was found killed with a cleaver in his home yesterday. While the cleaver used in the incident was found in the house, the body of the deceased Cuma Han was taken to the Ereğli State Hospital morgue for an autopsy following investigations. Initial examinations revealed that Cuma Han lost his life due to cleaver blows to his neck, back, and chest.

Launching an investigation following the incident, Ereğli District Police Department teams determined that his son-in-law, Nazım M., who reported finding Cuma Han covered in blood in the house, resided in Niğde. It was determined that Nazım M., who is separated from his wife and in the process of divorce, had come to visit his father-in-law Cuma Han and that they had consumed alcohol together on the night of the incident.

Furthermore, it was understood that Nazım M. had been taken to the police station on the day of the incident for disturbing the peace by making noise in the street while intoxicated, and that he had spent the night there. It was established that after being released in the morning, Nazım M. went to the house and later called the 112 Emergency Call Center to report that his father-in-law was covered in blood.

It was learned that Nazım M., who was taken into custody by the police as a murder suspect and initially denied the accusations, later confessed that he had been drinking alcohol with his father-in-law and attacked him with a cleaver after an argument broke out.

A woman named B.E. and her relative M.A., who were determined to have been in the house at the time the murder was committed, were also taken into custody by the police. In their initial assessment, police teams are focusing on the possibility that the murder suspect Nazım M. committed the murder before disturbing the peace in the neighborhood. Following their procedures at the police station, the murder suspect Nazım M. and his companions B.E. and M.A. were referred to the courthouse.
