Elevator falls in girls' dormitory: 1 student injured
An elevator fell in a girls' dormitory in Bartın, leaving one female student injured.
KYK-affiliated student dormitories are seeing an increase in poor living conditions and negligence, leaving many students struggling to live in difficult circumstances. While some students face housing shortages, others living in state dormitories are dealing with substandard conditions. A lack of proper maintenance in state dormitories leads to incidents of negligence. Most recently, one female student was injured in a dormitory in Bartın as a result of such negligence.
According to the information obtained, an elevator in motion crashed to the ground floor at the Credit and Dormitories Institution (KYK) girls' dormitory located in the village of Ağdacı in Bartın.
A female student inside the elevator, which fell from the second floor, was injured.
Police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. After receiving initial treatment, the injured student was taken to Bartın State Hospital for further care.
It was learned that the student's condition is good, and an investigation into the incident has been launched.
The General Directorate of Credit and Dormitories (KYK) issued a statement regarding the accident. The statement denied the claim that the elevator had fallen, stating that "necessary legal actions will be initiated against individuals and organizations that deceive the public with misleading news."
The full statement reads: "The claim that an elevator fell at the Bartın girls' dormitory and that a student was injured is not true. In the incident in question, the elevator stopped between floors due to a tripped circuit breaker, and the students were evacuated safely and soundly. There were no injuries in the incident; one student who suffered a panic attack was taken to the hospital by ambulance for a check-up. Necessary legal actions will be initiated against individuals and organizations that deceive the public with such misleading news."
