Entry and exit restricted in district opposite Imralı

The Gemlik District Governorate has announced that all indoor and outdoor events in the district have been temporarily banned to maintain public order. This ban, which begins on April 19 and will continue until April 25, covers all types of mass activities, including meetings, press statements, and marches throughout the district.

In the statement issued by the Governorate, it was noted that these measures were taken on the grounds that planned marches and press statements in support of PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan could threaten public peace. It was emphasized that actions organized by groups coming from outside the area could jeopardize national unity and security.

The ban, which went into effect as of midnight on Sunday, April 19, will remain in force until the night of Saturday, April 25. During this period, in addition to events such as indoor and outdoor meetings, protest marches, press statements, sit-ins, and hunger strikes, the hanging of posters and banners is also prohibited.

It is stated that the ban covers not only district residents but also individuals and vehicles that may potentially arrive from neighboring provinces and districts. Strict controls will be implemented on entry and exit points to prevent arrivals in Gemlik for the purpose of protests.

It was noted that the decision was taken based on the relevant provisions of the Law on Meetings and Demonstration Marches No. 2911 and the Provincial Administration Law No. 5442. The Governorate stated that measures will be enforced against any attempt to disrupt public order.
