Entry to forests banned in Gaziantep
Gaziantep Governor Kemal Çeber announced that entry into forested areas has been banned until September 29.
Gaziantep Governor Kemal Çeber told reporters that due to rising temperatures, 64 forest fires and 523 land fires have occurred in the last 13 days.
Stating that the Governor's Office has taken measures to prevent damage to forests, Çeber noted the following:
"Entry to the Dülükbaba, Burç, and Yamaçtepe nature parks, as well as the İbrahimli, Erikçe, Belkıs, Oğuzeli, and Kıraçtepe forest parks, where picnics are regularly held, is permitted provided that no barbecues or fires are lit. Entry to all other forested areas is prohibited from June 15 to September 29.
Monitoring will be carried out in line with this decision. I urge our citizens to be sensitive regarding forest fires. Because it is observed that many of the 64 fires within the 13 days I mentioned were caused by human activity or items left behind by people. Therefore, we are compelled to take such measures."
