Erdoğan and Trump meeting today! Here are the topics on the table

The US attack on Venezuela and the abduction of Maduro have become a major focus of global public attention. This development has also caused tension in the Turkish political agenda between the AKP and the CHP. While CHP leader Özgür Özel reacted to AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan with the words, "You are silent today regarding Maduro, whom you defended yesterday," responses came one after another to CHP leader Özel from both within the AKP and the Presidential Palace.

President Erdoğan, who has not yet made a statement regarding the US attack on Venezuela, announced in a statement last week that he would hold a meeting with US President Donald Trump on Monday (January 5).

Speaking after Friday prayers, Erdoğan had made assessments regarding the course of the war between Russia and Ukraine. Stating that diplomatic contacts are ongoing, President Erdoğan used the following expressions:

"As you know, my meetings continue with Mr. Putin, with Zelensky, and on this matter, with Trump and the leaders of European countries. We will have another meeting with Mr. Trump around 16:00 on Monday. We will have the opportunity to discuss the issues between Russia and Ukraine, as well as the issues in Palestine."

The meeting is also expected to address the US operation against Venezuela and the developments regarding the abduction of President Nicolas Maduro and his wife to the US.
