Erdoğan condemns armed attack attempt on Trump: Emphasizes 'democracy'

An armed attack occurred during a dinner organized by the White House Correspondents' Association in the US. US President Donald Trump, who was attending the event, was quickly removed from the hall by Secret Service teams following the incident.

Security units detained the 30-year-old male attacker, who was reported to be carrying multiple magazines, a long-barreled rifle, a handgun, and numerous knives.

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan issued a message condemning the armed attack attempt against Trump.

Sharing on his X account, Erdoğan conveyed his best wishes to Trump and his wife, stating the following:

"I condemn the armed attack attempt that took place at the White House Correspondents' dinner in Washington last night.

It is gratifying for us that no one, especially US President Mr. Trump and his esteemed wife Melania, was injured.

In democracies, struggle is conducted through ideas; there is no place for any form of violence. I convey my best wishes to President Trump, his wife, the US administration, and the American people."
