In the petition, which states that İBB Mayor İmamoğlu used 'baseless accusations' against Erdoğan during a rally held on October 31 to protest Özer's arrest and that he 'violated Erdoğan's personal rights,' it was emphasized that İmamoğlu acted with the 'intent to humiliate the President in the public eye.'

The petition stated that the expressions "stick-wielding" and "a government chasing a dark move" used by İmamoğlu against Erdoğan exceeded their purpose, not only damaging Erdoğan's reputation but also inciting the public to hatred and enmity and distorting the facts, and included the relevant section of İmamoğlu's speech and the video recording of this section.

For the reasons explained, the petition requested that the lawsuit be accepted, that 1 million lira in non-pecuniary damages be compensated with legal interest to accrue from the date of the incident, October 31, 2024, and that litigation expenses and attorney fees be charged to the opposing party.
