Erdoğan had implied that the CHP was open to a 'new constitution'. A response came from CHP's Akdoğan

CHP Ankara Deputy Umut Akdoğan participated in the Nokta Atışı program on SÖZCÜ TV.

Akdoğan evaluated the statements of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan: “Turkey can take a step in this new era by putting a new constitution on its agenda. The reality underlying our making these visits was the search for, ‘even if it seems contrary, can we meet with the CHP under the title of making such a constitution?’

We made our proposal. I saw an approach from them that reached the point of ‘why not’. However, when an approach we unfortunately did not desire emerged two days later, this situation did not fail to sadden us.”

"WE STATED THAT THE CURRENT CONSTITUTION MUST BE COMPLIED WITH"

Stating that he had spoken with CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, Akdoğan noted that an expression such as “why not” was not used.

Akdoğan said, “We stated that the current constitution must be complied with.”

The CHP deputy made the assessment regarding the meeting between Erdoğan and Özel, saying, “We placed the problems of millions who are urgently awaiting solutions in Turkey at the center of the talks.”
