Erdoğan had said 'he should apologize': Mahmoud Abbas is coming to Turkey soon

While President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's remarks that "he should apologize" are being discussed, it has been reported that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will come to Turkey.

According to the report in the official Palestinian news agency WAFA, Palestinian Ambassador to Ankara Faed Mustafa announced that Abbas will soon pay an official visit to Turkey to meet with Erdoğan.

Ambassador Mustafa stated that discussions are ongoing to finalize the timing of the visit through diplomatic channels and appropriate protocols.

Reminding that Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş had invited Mahmoud Abbas to deliver a speech at the Parliament, Ambassador Mustafa said that official diplomatic communications between the two countries are continuing to plan this speech.

Emphasizing the relations between the two countries, Ambassador Mustafa expressed that they "approach Turkey's unwavering support for the rights of the Palestinian people with high appreciation."

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had said the following regarding claims that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas was not invited to the Turkish Grand National Assembly:

"Some political parties in my country say, 'The government should invite the Palestinian President to Turkey and have him speak in parliament.' Who says we didn't invite him? Abbas, who did not come despite our invitation, needs to apologize to us. We invited him, but he did not come. We are waiting; will he be able to come? Whether he comes or not, we are voicing what needs to be said on behalf of our Palestinian brothers everywhere. As we see those who applaud the murderers of 40 thousand innocents, we worry not only for humanity but also for our own future. Who can guarantee that those who are razing Gaza to the ground today will not cast their dirty eyes on Anatolia tomorrow? Who can claim that those who remain silent about the massacre in Gaza will react when the same thing happens to other countries?"
