Erdoğan in Egypt for Gaza summit
World leaders are gathering for a peace summit in Egypt following the ceasefire in Gaza. However, it has been announced that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu will not attend the summit. President Erdoğan has arrived in Egypt for the meeting.
Following the ceasefire in Gaza, world leaders have gathered in the Egyptian city of Sharm El-Sheikh for a peace summit. President Erdoğan held meetings with several leaders ahead of the summit.
NEWS (Original): The peace summit, planned following the ceasefire that came into effect in Gaza, is being held today in the Egyptian city of Sharm El-Sheikh.
The summit is being attended by leaders from more than 20 countries, including Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, US President Donald Trump, and AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. It was reported that President Erdoğan arrived in Egypt ahead of the summit.
Israel's official news agency Kan announced that US President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a phone call with Egyptian President Sisi while the hostage and prisoner exchange process is ongoing.
In an initial statement from Egypt, it was reported that Netanyahu would attend the summit. However, shortly after, the Israeli Prime Minister's Office denied this information. It was stated that Netanyahu would not attend the meeting due to Hoshanah, the seventh day of the Jewish holy festival of Sukkot.
President Erdoğan also met with French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Vice President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan ahead of the summit.
