Erdoğan-Özel meeting concludes: What was discussed?

The meeting between President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and CHP Chairman Özgür Özel has concluded. The meeting lasted 1 hour and 35 minutes.

WHO WAS PRESENT?

AK Party Deputy Chairman Mustafa Elitaş and CHP Istanbul MP Namık Tan were also in attendance. Upon leaving, Özel expressed his thanks but did not make any statements.

It was learned that CHP Chairman Özel headed to the CHP Headquarters to meet with his staff to evaluate his meeting with President Erdoğan.

A GIFT FROM ÖZEL TO ERDOĞAN

It was stated that Özel presented Erdoğan with an object titled "Republic Fire" from Paşabahçe's "With Pride" series, as well as mesir paste brought from the International Mesir Paste Festival in Manisa.

It was noted that the piece was inspired by the words of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk to Sadi Irmak, one of the students sent to Europe by the young Republic: "We are sending you as sparks, you must return as roaring flames."

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

Erdoğan and Özel had held a brief meeting at the April 23 reception held for the 104th anniversary of the opening of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. During that meeting, the decision for the two leaders to come together was made.
