Post-congress remarks from Erdoğan... 'The burden on my shoulders has grown heavier'

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who was nominated once again for the AKP chairmanship, cast his vote at ballot box No. 1. Erdoğan delivered a speech at the 8th Ordinary Grand Congress of the AKP held at the Ankara Sports Hall.

After casting his vote, Erdoğan greeted party members and thanked the AKP supporters for their backing.

Having cast his vote at the ballot box, President Erdoğan addressed the party members.

Erdoğan's statements are as follows:

''We have completed our 8th Ordinary Grand Congress with great success. I thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart for deeming me worthy of the chairmanship. The election of the governing bodies has also been completed. I wish my colleagues who were elected success. We are setting out once again, even stronger, in our struggle to serve the country.

The burden on our shoulders has grown heavier. As citizens see the pitiful state of the opposition, they turn their direction toward us. The future of our nation lies in our party.

For 23 and a half years, we have never let our nation down. We have not dropped the trust our nation has placed in us. For us, there is no stopping, no pausing, no giving up. There is absolutely no room for complacency on this sacred journey. With the same excitement as the day we set out, with the same enthusiasm as the day we began, we will work with all our might to build the Century of Turkey.

Starting today, we are setting out once again with new excitement and in a much stronger way in our struggle to serve our nation and our country.

Once again, I thank you for your trust and your favor. I express my gratitude to my fellow travelers and comrades who have contributed to our party.''
