Erdoğan speaks in Riyadh: We are facing unprecedented barbarity

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Extraordinary Summit.

Erdoğan stated the following in his speech:

I hope our meeting will be auspicious for our Palestinian brothers and sisters and for the entire Islamic world. At today's summit, we are clearly demonstrating our solidarity with the Palestinian people as the Islamic world. We will reinforce this message of solidarity with the decisions we will take and implement.

"WE ARE FACING UNPRECEDENTED BARBARITY"

Words are insufficient to describe what has been happening in Gaza and Ramallah since October 7. We are facing a barbarity unprecedented in history, where hospitals, places of worship, schools, refugee camps, and ambulances are bombed, and civilians migrating to so-called safe zones are massacred. Children whose innocent bodies are lined up in hospital corridors, mothers who die while embracing the children they could not love and smell, fathers searching for their family members with their bare hands in buildings turned into piles of rubble—in short, the lives lost in attacks directly targeting civilians are witnesses to the atrocity that has been going on for exactly 36 days.

"THE SILENCE OF WESTERN COUNTRIES IS SHAMEFUL"

The Israeli administration is taking revenge for the October 7 incident, which many of us do not find right, from babies in Gaza and innocent Palestinian children and women. It is not possible for us to put Hamas resistance fighters defending their homeland and the occupiers in the same category. Our brothers and sisters in the West Bank are also negatively affected by the attacks of Israeli forces and occupying settlers. According to the United Nations, 73 percent of the nearly 12 thousand Palestinians massacred in Gaza and Ramallah are women and children. There is no defensible or excusable side to this state of madness. It is shameful that Western countries, which never stop talking about human rights and freedoms, have fallen silent in the face of the ongoing massacres in Palestine. Nearly 12 thousand people have died in Gaza, almost all of Gaza has been destroyed, but these countries do not even call for a ceasefire in Israel, they cannot.

"PEOPLE ARE DYING IN GAZA, THEY DO NOT LIFT A FINGER"

When heads of state and government from around the world marched in Paris during the Charlie Hebdo incident where nearly 20 thousand people died, more than 12 thousand people are currently dying in Gaza, but none of them lift a finger. This is not just helplessness, it is also cowardice and a lack of conscience. Those who remain silent in the face of oppression are as much partners in the spilled blood as the oppressors themselves. America and Western countries have sacrificed the values they supposedly champion to the ambitions of the Israeli administration.
