Erdoğan targets CHP and Özgür Özel again! 'Only so much can be done with a remote control'

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at the 11th Energy Efficiency Forum.

Targeting CHP Chairman Özgür Özel without naming him, Erdoğan said, "We are being subjected to the unfair criticisms of our country's main opposition party."

Erdoğan reacted to criticisms regarding nuclear energy investments with the following remarks:

“Buying natural gas from international markets is not like buying a soda from a corner store. You have to make the right deal. The opposition leader comes along and criticizes our power plants, supposedly using fish as an excuse. He has nothing else he can do other than criticize our work.”

“ONLY SO MUCH POLITICS CAN BE DONE WITH A REMOTE CONTROL”

Continuing his remarks, Erdoğan targeted the opposition party over its internal issues.

“The only thing he can do is act as a human shield for the corruption, bribery, and extortion scandals that break out in his party every day. Only so much politics can be done with a remote control,” said Erdoğan, attacking the CHP over corruption allegations.

“NATIONAL INCOME PER CAPITA HAS RISEN TO 15 THOUSAND 325 DOLLARS”

Touching upon economic developments, Erdoğan argued that the Turkish economy is strengthening despite the opposition's criticisms.

“We have increased our national income per capita to 15 thousand 325 dollars,” said Erdoğan, evaluating this increase as “a result of stability in the economy.”

Claiming that Turkey has shown significant economic growth in recent years, Erdoğan said, “Our country has been in a state of serious economic dynamism since 2002. In the second quarter of 2025, income per capita approached 17 thousand dollars, and in 2023, Turkey entered the 1 trillion dollar economy league.”

Describing the opposition's criticisms of the economy as “shallow and baseless,” Erdoğan stated, “While we continue to produce and invest, they only talk.”

ERDOĞAN: “DO POLITICS WITH PRODUCTION, NOT CRITICISM”

At the end of his speech, Erdoğan continued his criticisms of the CHP and Özgür Özel as follows:

“We are working with the goal of a fully independent Turkey in energy. The opposition, on the other hand, is busy finding fault with every step we take. They have no projects that will contribute to Turkey's future. Politics is not done by criticizing, it is done by producing.”
