Erdoğan targets CHP over 'National Mourning' request for martyrs: They avoided signing the joint declaration with flimsy excuses

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at the Mukhtars Meeting held at the Presidential Palace.

Regarding the accident that occurred on the Northern Marmara Motorway in the morning, Erdoğan stated, "Our prosecutors are investigating meticulously."

"BY AVOIDING SIGNING WITH FLIMSY EXCUSES..."

Targeting the CHP for not signing the joint declaration in the TBMM for the 12 soldiers martyred by PKK terrorists in Northern Iraq, Erdoğan said, "By avoiding signing the declaration in Parliament, where 4 different parties displayed a common will against terrorism, with flimsy excuses, and by showing at every opportunity that they look askance at the terrorist organization, they have revealed that they have no concern for the fight against terrorism."

WHAT DID ÖZGÜR ÖZEL SAY?

CHP leader Özgür Özel had made the following statement regarding the joint declaration crisis in the TBMM: "As always, they wanted to sign a 2-paragraph text and condemn terrorism. Let's not declare mourning, let's not explain what happened, but let's sign an A4 paper and make a condemnation. We will not sign any document that will legitimize you without a national day of mourning being declared and the necessary information being provided."

"WE ESTABLISHED A MUKHTARS DEPARTMENT"

In 2024, we are starting the construction of 179 more mukhtar service buildings in 51 of our provinces. We have brought the salaries of our mukhtars to a level commensurate with the work they do. Since 2002, we have supported our mukhtars in every field. We established a Mukhtars Department.

NEW INSTRUCTION REGARDING MUKHTARSHIPS

We will not let anyone crush our mukhtars. From here, I am giving an instruction to our Minister of Interior: let us definitely put the work towards restructuring our mukhtarships according to today's conditions on the agenda. We came to these positions by trampling on the headlines that said 'He cannot even be a mukhtar.' It can be considered to reorganize the functions of our mukhtarships and make them more effective.

For the last 40 years, our enemies have been pursuing the same insidious and treacherous ambition through the PKK and its extensions. The goal is to scrape and remove this from our lands. They have not reached their ambitions to this day, but they have never given up either. We have paid and are paying the price for living in this geography almost every day for the last 21 years.

"WE WILL CONTINUE ON OUR PATH DETERMINEDLY"

The real issue is that some people within the country still have not realized what Turkey corresponds to in its region. We encounter manifestations of this distortion in every subject from foreign policy to the fight against terrorism. Protecting the unitary structure of our state and observing the principle of one nation, one flag, one homeland, one state, which is the guarantee of our national survival, is our red line. We cannot allow these to be eroded.

We will continue on our path determinedly. We have not given credit to any of the risks and threats in the world. In a period when the security climate has deteriorated, Turkey has carried out important counter-terrorism operations in its recent history. Cross-border operations are continuing. We are destroying terrorists in their lairs. We had 12 martyrs, we buried 59 terrorists in 3 days. 59 terrorists have been neutralized in the operations carried out since December 22.

70 facilities of critical importance for the terrorist organization were hit. Among these are, as it were, oil refineries. We will not stop; wherever there are such resources for them, we will hit and destroy those resources, and we are destroying them. We will continue these operations with determination. Our operation region in Northern Iraq is truly a very difficult place geographically. Using this difficulty, terrorists have easily entered and exited our country's lands and shed blood for 40 years. The places where our soldiers carry out operations have such difficult conditions that it is not possible to establish a permanent base area immediately. But we are not stopping; we are going right after them.
