Erdoğan's July 15 remarks: 'Those who call it theater will never be forgiven until doomsday...'

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke following his visit to the July 15 Martyrs' Monument.

"WE WILL NEVER FORGIVE THOSE WHO CALL IT THEATER UNTIL DOOMSDAY"

"We will keep alive the memories of our martyrs who wrote their names in history and in the hearts of our nation in golden letters," said Erdoğan, expressing that they would never forgive those who call the July 15 coup attempt theater until doomsday.

"WE LOST 34 CHILDREN OF THE HOMELAND AS MARTYRS"

Erdoğan's statements are as follows:

"We are in the 8th anniversary of the treacherous July 15 coup attempt. We are together, as one heart and one fist. I thank everyone who rushed to the squares to resist the traitors from the very first moments of the coup attempt, even without waiting for our call.

The July 15 Martyrs' Bridge, where a true story of heroism was written as the nation's will rose up on the night of July 15, comes to mind. On the bridge, which was the place where the uprising began, the treacherous coup plotters continued to shed blood and slaughter the innocent throughout the night. We lost a total of 34 children of the homeland as martyrs.

We saw the treacherous face of the coup plotters and the murders they committed here together. We do not forget. We also remember with great pride the epic struggle our nation waged with their bare hands against tanks and weapons spewing death.

We will keep alive the memories of our martyrs who wrote their names in history and in the hearts of our nation in golden letters.

Just as this nation has thwarted every game that touched its independence or attempted to shackle its will, it will continue to do so from now on. We will never forgive those who call July 15 a 'game,' those who call it 'theater,' and those who shamelessly call it a 'staged fight' until doomsday."
