Erdoğan's statement on Narin Güran: 'It is hypocrisy for those who remained silent about children murdered by the separatist terrorist organization to act this way today'

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at the "1st Term Judge and Prosecutor Assistants Training Opening Ceremony" held at the Nation Congress and Culture Center in the Presidential Palace.

"WE MUST NOT ALLOW POLITICAL SCORES TO BE SETTLED OVER THE BODIES OF CHILDREN"

Speaking about the murder of 8-year-old Narin Güran, who was brutally killed in Diyarbakır, Erdoğan said, "We must not allow political and ideological scores to be settled with the nation's values of faith, the institution of the family, and religious institutions over the bodies of innocent children."

Erdoğan added, "It is hypocrisy for those who remained silent about the children murdered by the separatist terrorist organization to act this way today."

In the continuation of his speech, Erdoğan targeted social media. Arguing that social media channels are increasingly turning into a major apparatus for operations, Erdoğan stated, "Social media channels, where there are no rules, values, or moral boundaries, are increasingly turning into a major apparatus for operations."

Today, we have a significant number and variety of institutions in our country that provide legal education. The number of judges and prosecutors has increased 3-fold. Over the last 22 years, we have achieved an increase in the number of lawyers, notaries, and personnel who have received legal education and judges. Our number of judges and prosecutors has approached 25 thousand today. Professional knowledge and skills require an effort that goes beyond faculty education. The bridge that enables the connection between values and knowledge is experience. With the judge and prosecutor assistant mechanism, we aim to blend knowledge with experience. We have increased the duration of the assistantship to 3 years. We have increased the training period at the academy from 7 months to 10 months.

"QUANTITY AND QUALITY ARE INCREASING IN THE JUDICIARY"

Quantity and quality are increasing in the judiciary. We are carrying out comprehensive work on every topic related to justice. Conflict and contradictions are inevitable wherever there are humans. Even if not desired, crimes are committed. A state of law requires providing quick responses to these conflicts. A fairly functioning judicial system is the institutional framework for this. An impartially functioning judiciary and the existence of this system are also the guarantee of economic development. Making the courthouse a gateway to justice requires constant work and following society.

We will take new steps according to the demands, expectations, and grievances rising from society, and we will continue on our path by setting new goals for ourselves.

Since 1960, the judiciary in this country has been used as a tool of tutelage to set the direction for politics. The shame of the decisions made by the Yassıada courts and the September 12 courts has haunted our justice system for years. We said the courthouse would be the gateway to justice. We have built a system where the rightful is powerful, not the powerful is rightful. You must keep in mind that in every case and file that comes before you, you will be touching a human life.

We may encounter some bad examples that serve the perception of impunity in society. We are striving to do whatever falls to us to minimize the rate of these. The place for those who commit crimes and those who target the property, honor, and life of the nation is not the streets, but prisons where they will serve their sentences to the fullest extent. If there is a problem or deficiency here, it is our duty to fix it. No matter how much we have cleansed our state of tutelage apparatuses and remnants of FETÖ, we will continue the struggle without letting our guard down. If it is written on the rulings that our courts make decisions on behalf of the Turkish nation, it is quite natural for social sensitivities to be taken into account in cases. Decisions that do not soothe the conscience of society cannot contribute to the construction of social peace and tranquility.
