AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan released a video message for the year 2025.

Asking for 'patience' from citizens regarding economic problems, Erdoğan stated, "We will hopefully reach better places by focusing on policies that will compensate for our citizens' loss of welfare and increase their purchasing power. We will continue our fight with determination in 2025 against opportunists who target the nation's bread with exorbitant prices, especially in housing, rent, and food."

"WE HELD THE 2024 ELECTIONS IN A FESTIVE ATMOSPHERE"

Stating, "As a nation, we will hopefully further strengthen our unity, solidarity, and togetherness in 2025, and we will bond more tightly with each other," Erdoğan noted that the year 2024, which has been left behind, witnessed many critical developments both within Turkey and in the region, and continued as follows:

"Thank God, we successfully held the local government elections in an atmosphere of a full democracy festival, in a climate where we once again showed the maturity of Turkish democracy to the whole world. While the will of our nation was freely manifested at the ballot box, the winner, along with our democracy, was all of our 85 million citizens. I would like to thank my fellow citizens once again today, who turned the polling stations into a celebration regardless of their preferences."

"WE HAVE ACHIEVED VERY IMPORTANT SUCCESSES"

Claiming that they have started to reap the fruits of the economic program they have implemented with determination despite the elections and the new crises that have erupted in the region, Erdoğan said, "We have achieved very important successes in employment, exports, production, tourism, the defense industry, and other fields. We have made significant progress in our efforts to rebuild our earthquake-stricken regions. These efforts will accelerate even more in the new year."

"PATIENCE, FORTITUDE, UNDERSTANDING..."

Pointing out that the continued decline in inflation, especially in the final months of the year, confirms that the 2025 targets will be reached, Erdoğan said:

"We will hopefully reach better places by focusing on policies that will compensate for our citizens' loss of welfare and increase their purchasing power. We will continue our fight with determination in 2025 against opportunists who target the nation's bread with exorbitant prices, especially in housing, rent, and food.

I especially implore my fellow citizens not to give credit to populist rhetoric that has cost Turkey very heavy bills in the past. Just as we have solved all the problems of this country and nation in the last 22 years, we will overcome the cyclical difficulties in the economy as well. We are on the right path. With God's permission, we will reach our goals. We only ask for a little more patience, fortitude, and understanding from you."

"THE RETURN OF SYRIAN REFUGEES WILL BE FACILITATED"

Arguing that the final weeks of 2024 were the spark of a new era in Syria, with which Turkey has deep historical, human, and neighborly relations, Erdoğan said, "We will provide all kinds of support necessary for this new era to pave the way for lasting peace, tranquility, stability, and economic prosperity in Syria. As the environment of stability takes root in Syria, I believe that the voluntary return of Syrian refugees, who have been longing for their homeland for 13 years, will also be facilitated. I say may God be pleased with all my fellow citizens who have displayed the most beautiful examples of being an 'Ansar' (helper) nation throughout this period."

"WE WILL WORK FOR A PALESTINIAN STATE"

Noting that Turkey is the country that has given the strongest reaction to the massacres in Gaza from the very first day and has demonstrated its conscientious and just stance on every platform, Erdoğan said, "We are making intense efforts to end the massacres that have been continuing for 15 months in Gaza and other Palestinian territories, and to establish peace there as well. In 2025, we will work with all our might for the establishment of a free, sovereign, and territorially integral Palestinian State based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital."

'IRON FIST' MESSAGE FOR THE INTERNAL FRONT

Emphasizing that while implementing all these diplomatic moves beyond the borders, their most important agenda within Turkey will be the fortification of the internal front, Erdoğan continued:

"We are determined to make the Century of Turkey a century of brotherhood. In the coming period, we will take decisive steps to turn our vision of a terror-free Turkey and a terror-free region into reality. We are making every effort to ensure that this process, which will open a new path for our country, proceeds with ease, mutual goodwill, and understanding.

But when necessary, we will not hesitate to deploy our state's iron fist inside a velvet glove. In this context, we hope and desire to give our nation new good news in 2025. May God be our helper and supporter. I pray that God does not embarrass us before our beloved nation, whose servants we are honored to be, and before the hundreds of millions of oppressed people who have pinned their hopes on Turkey.
