Ertuğrul Özkök to Selvi: 'Whoever gave you this brilliant idea...'

Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi targeted Fenerbahçe and Ali Koç in his column yesterday with the words, “Did you really have to find the ‘Peace at home, peace in the world’ banner used by FETÖ members to bring out onto the pitch…”

Most recently, former Hürriyet newspaper editor-in-chief and T24 columnist Ertuğrul Özkök also expressed his reaction to Selvi.

Özkök stated the following in his column:

"Hürriyet columnist Abdülkadir Selvi wrote an article yesterday that left me in astonishment.

Selvi is a columnist who is worth paying attention to because of his respectful style that avoids insults, even if you do not agree with his views.

I have always read him with that sentiment until today.

But yesterday, he wrote such an article and said such a thing that…

I was left stunned.

It is clear that Fenerbahçe Club President Ali Koç has now been openly and clearly targeted…

Open season…

"DID HE FIND THIS ARGUMENT HIMSELF..."

But look at this sentence Selvi found to attack him with:

“Did you really have to find the ‘Peace at home, peace in the world’ banner used by FETÖ members to bring out onto the pitch…”

At first, I couldn't believe my eyes…

I honestly couldn't find what to say or how to react to such nonsense.

Did he come up with this sentence himself, or did someone whisper it to him?

The only question that came to my mind was:

Did he find this argument himself to hit Ali Koç…

I can neither attribute it to him nor find it fitting for him…

I wonder if someone whispered it?

I don't know, but I have never seen a more crude, more unfair, and more mindless “perception” sentence in my life.

"IF HE WENT ONE STEP FURTHER, THEY WOULD MAKE ATATÜRK..."

Whoever’s idea it was to use the most beautiful and concise sentence that shows Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s vision for Turkey and the world alongside FETÖ…

I would doubt their intelligence, good intentions, and conscience.

Look at this:

FETÖ members said “Peace at home, peace in the world” during the coup attempt…

If they went one step further, they would make Atatürk a FETÖ member too…

What kind of logic is this, for God’s sake…

Careful, my dear Abdülkadir, don't try to recite the Basmala in a crowd or something; someone will pop up and say “FETÖ members used to read that too,” and you’ll be in trouble, I swear."

"FIND SOMETHING SMARTER, FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE..."

Özkök also said the following regarding the article, which he described as a perception operation:

"You were very shameful; by making this wonderful sentence of Atatürk, which has directed our foreign policy for years, a tool for an ordinary perception operation. If you want to ruin Ali Koç by conducting a perception operation, find something smarter, for heaven's sake…"
