EU breaks silence on Gaza: 'Humanitarian' step for Gaza

European Council President Charles Michel shared a post quoting United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who emphasized on the X social media platform that urgent humanitarian aid access, such as food, water, and fuel, must be provided to Gaza.

Drawing attention to the importance of respecting universal values and human dignity at all times and in all places, Michel noted that these form the essence of the EU.

Michel stated, "International law and international humanitarian law must be respected. Essential supplies must reach those in the most difficult situations."

ISRAEL-PALESTINE CONFLICT

The Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, launched a comprehensive attack on Israel on the morning of October 7, dubbed "Al-Aqsa Flood."

While thousands of rockets were fired from Gaza toward Israel, Palestinian armed groups raided and seized the Beit Hanoun-Erez Border Crossing on the Gaza-Israel border.

The armed groups then entered settlements inside Israel from there, and the Israeli army launched an offensive on the Gaza Strip with dozens of fighter jets. It was reported that 1,300 Israelis lost their lives and 3,300 were injured in the attacks launched from Gaza.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that 1,203 people had lost their lives and 5,763 had been injured in Gaza due to Israeli attacks. Additionally, it was stated that 29 Palestinians were killed and approximately 150 people were injured in attacks by Israeli forces and Jewish settlers in the West Bank.
