Execution regulation submitted to Parliament

The legislative proposal regarding the execution of criminal and security measures was submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) today at 15:00.

AK Party Group Chairman Abdullah Güler made statements regarding the execution regulation at a press conference he held at the AK Party Group Presidency foyer area at 15:00.

Güler stated that the submitted proposal consists of a total of 30 articles.

With the new regulation, the period that convicts must spend in prison to benefit from probation will be at least one-tenth of their sentence.

Highlights from Güler's speech are as follows:

"The planning of the commission's work will be carried out.

Our proposal consists of a total of 30 articles. We are introducing changes to 9 different laws.

In order for convicts to benefit from one year of probation, they must spend one-tenth of their sentence in a penal execution institution."

WILL A GENERAL AMNESTY LAW BE ENACTED?

The "10th Judicial Package," or otherwise known as the execution package, which is on Turkey's agenda in 2025, aims to bring comprehensive changes to the penal execution system.

However, general amnesty or partial amnesty regulations, which the public is eagerly awaiting, are not included in this package. The new development that stands out in the package is that the implementation of arrest and imprisonment in cases where the crime commission period is less than two years is on the agenda.
