Expert warns "March will make you look at the door." Temperatures to drop by 10 degrees nationwide
Meteorology Weather Forecasting Expert Yusuf Ziya Yavuz shared his forecasts regarding the air temperatures expected across the country at the General Directorate of Meteorology.
Temperatures, which have been above seasonal norms for a long time, will give way to cold and rainy weather starting Wednesday.
Meteorology Weather Forecasting Expert Yusuf Ziya Yavuz stated that temperatures will drop by up to 10 degrees across the country and that the entire week will be rainy, adding, "March will practically make you look at the door."
Stating that the precipitation, which will begin in the western regions today, will be seen in most of the country over a 5-day period, Yavuz said, "While the precipitation in the western regions is expected to be in the form of thunderstorms, we expect temperatures to drop starting Wednesday due to the effect of a new rainy weather system coming from the north, and we expect sleet and snowfall in the inner parts of the Black Sea and the high altitudes of the Eastern Anatolia region."
Reporting that strong southwesterly winds (lodos) will be effective tomorrow in the south of the Aegean, the west of the Mediterranean, and the south of Central Anatolia, Yavuz warned drivers to be careful.
Stating that the precipitation will leave the country after being seen in Eastern Anatolia over the weekend and that a new system will be observed, Yavuz said the following:
"Temperatures are currently above seasonal norms, but drops will begin starting Wednesday. Temperatures will be at seasonal norms on Thursday and Friday, and will fall below seasonal norms over the weekend. According to initial assessments, March will practically make you look at the door. A rapid temperature drop of around 10 degrees could be seen nationwide. Citizens feel relieved when they see warm weather during seasonal transitions, but one should not be deceived by spring. It is necessary to pay attention to the weather forecast starting Wednesday."
WEATHER FORECASTS FOR THE 3 MAJOR CITIES ARE AS FOLLOWS
Stating that the precipitation expected in Ankara throughout the week will be intermittent during the day and will lose its effect, Yavuz said there is a possibility of snowfall on Thursday and Friday, especially in northern districts like Kızılcahamam.
Yavuz said, "While the air temperature in Ankara is 18 degrees, the temperature will drop to 8 degrees over the weekend. We expect nighttime temperatures to drop from 4 degrees to minus 2 degrees."
ISTANBUL
Stating that precipitation will be seen in Istanbul for four days, Yavuz reported that temperatures will drop from 15-16 degrees during the day to 10 degrees, and from 8-10 degrees at night to 4 degrees.
IZMIR
Reporting that intermittent precipitation will also be seen in Izmir for four days, Yavuz noted that daytime and nighttime temperatures will drop by 7-8 degrees.
