Expired products and bug-infested rice seized: Inspections in Şanlıurfa

During municipal police inspections in Şanlıurfa, expired food products and packages of bug-infested rice were discovered at a BİM supermarket. Thousands of kilograms of unhealthy food products were seized during the inspections, and 12 businesses were issued fines.

Expired products and bug-infested rice seized: Inspections in Şanlıurfa

Significant violations were identified during municipal police inspections carried out in the city center of Şanlıurfa, as well as in the Akçakale, Viranşehir, Birecik, and Hilvan districts. The inspections uncovered food products with expired shelf lives and food stored under unsanitary conditions.

Thousands of packages of food products were seized, including a total of 1,500 kilograms of rice, 650 kilograms of jam, 200 kilograms of chocolate, 200 kilograms of tomato paste, 100 kilograms of baby biscuits, and 100 kilograms of tea. Notably, at one BİM supermarket, expired products and packages of bug-infested rice drew attention. These products were collected by municipal police teams for destruction.

INSPECTIONS WILL CONTINUE

While 12 businesses were issued fines during the inspections, warnings were also issued to businesses storing products under unhealthy and unhygienic conditions. Municipal police teams stated that inspections will continue in order to protect public health.

This incident has heightened sensitivity regarding food safety and serves as a reminder for citizens to check the expiration dates of the products they purchase.
