Explosion on cargo ship in Fethiye
Four people were injured, one seriously, in an explosion that occurred on a cargo ship anchored off the coast of Fethiye Bay in Muğla.
An explosion occurred for an as-yet-undetermined reason in the bow section of the 75-meter-long dry cargo ship named Serenity Ac, which was anchored off the coast of Şövalye Island in Fethiye Bay.
The crew on board requested assistance from the 112 Emergency Call Center.
Upon the report, teams from the General Directorate of Coastal Safety, the Coast Guard, and the Marine Police were dispatched to the area.
The 4 people injured in the explosion were transported by a Coast Guard boat to medical teams waiting at Fethiye Port.
The injured were taken to hospitals by ambulance. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
