Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) Numan Kurtulmuş has called the Parliament to an extraordinary session on Thursday, August 15, for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to address the General Assembly.
The "extraordinary meeting call" bearing the signature of Speaker of the Parliament Kurtulmuş included the following statements:
"I am calling the Grand National Assembly of Turkey to an extraordinary meeting on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at 15.00, in accordance with Article 93 of the Constitution and Article 7 of the Rules of Procedure of the TBMM, for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to address the General Assembly, in order to demonstrate our strong support for the Palestinian people and their cause, and to ensure that the voice of the oppressed Palestinian people is heard by the world. I kindly request that the honorable members of parliament attend the General Assembly meeting on the specified day and time."
