Factions within IYI Party emerge ahead of congress. Striking inside information

The first person to announce that there were attempts from both inside and outside the party to cancel the extraordinary congress with a general chairmanship election to be held on April 27, and to make an open call to Akşener, was IYI Party TBMM Group President Koray Aydın.

According to Hilal Köylü's inside report in Serbestiyet, after Koray Aydın, who is a candidate for the general chairmanship of the IYI Party, announced that there were attempts to cancel the extraordinary congress on April 27 where the general chairmanship election will be held, it emerged that there are two factions carrying out these attempts.

The first faction consists of deputy chairmen Taner Demirer, Ünzile Yüksel, and Burak Akburak. The second faction is led by Ömer Karakaş, the former chief of staff to MHP leader Bahçeli and IYI Party Aydın deputy. The factions' meetings with Akşener to cancel the congress begin today.

“CALLS ARE BEING MADE NOT TO CANCEL THE CONGRESS"

In party circles, it is pointed out that Akşener made the decision for the extraordinary congress herself, and therefore it is emphasized that she has the authority to cancel this decision:

“Akşener knew there would be attempts to cancel the congress. That is why she announced the extraordinary congress decision as if it were her own decision anyway. She did not resign. While leaving, she also gave the message that she could return. Now, if she wants, she can say, ‘My party and my organization wanted it,’ and return to the head of the party again.

If she cancels the extraordinary congress, the party will enter the ordinary congress process calendar. According to the calendar, provincial congresses would be in February 2025, and the congress would be in March.

Until that time, Akşener would purge anyone who is an opponent to her from the party. For this reason, calls are being made to Akşener saying, ‘Do not damage both your own reputation and the party's reputation, do not cancel the extraordinary congress.’ We do not know what the result will be, but the party is in turmoil.”
