Factories continued production during the earthquake! 'This is the value placed on us'

The 6.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred off the coast of Silivri in the Sea of Marmara was felt strongly in Istanbul and surrounding provinces. Many factories in Kocaeli continued production during the tremors.

Workers at Ford Otosan, which manufactures automobiles in Kocaeli, expressed their reactions by stating that production continued during and after the earthquake. In posts shared on the Ford Workers' Bulletin, it was stated: "An earthquake occurred and aftershocks are continuing. The factory never stops production. They took us outside for show, then production started again. Those on the night shift cannot sleep out of fear. This is the value placed on the worker."

Another worker shared in a post the following day: "There may be those who still haven't slept, having only had two hours of sleep, but production is still continuing. We will leave our children at home and come to work at night. What if there is another earthquake at night? There are those who come from far away; how can they go to their families?" expressing their anxiety in the face of the danger.
