Million-lira scam by fake 'call center' gang: How they defrauded citizens

In Üsküdar, Istanbul, a 'call center' gang began defrauding citizens by setting up a fake call center and a fraudulent website to sell automotive spare parts. Following reports from citizens residing in Bursa who fell into the scammers' trap, teams from the Provincial Security Directorate's Public Security Branch Office, Pickpocketing and Fraud Bureau, took action.

OPERATION LIKE A MOVIE

Acting on the reports received, the teams determined that the gang was operating in Üsküdar. In the operation conducted under the coordination of the Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, M.K. (22), A.C. (27), Y.S. (19), M.O.A. (26), and M.A. (22) were caught red-handed behind doors broken down with battering rams. The captured suspects were brought to the Bursa Public Security Branch Office to have their statements taken. After their statements were taken, the suspects were referred to the courthouse.

On the other hand, it was learned that the gang had defrauded approximately 50 people out of 1 million lira through online advertisements for vehicle spare parts. During the search of the 'call center' gang's house, numerous laptops, phones, and GSM lines were seized.
