Famous cola brand's products being recalled: Warning issued

The Belgian Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (FASFC) has announced a recall for certain beverages produced by Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Belgium due to the presence of dangerous levels of chlorate.

The statement reported that canned and glass-bottled beverages, as well as other varieties, from the Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite, Fuse Tea, Nalu, Minute Maid, Tropico, and Royal Bliss brands with production codes between 328 GE and 338 GE are being recalled.

WARNING ISSUED: DO NOT CONSUME THE PRODUCTS

The FASFC has warned consumers not to consume these products. It was also announced that these beverages can be returned to points of sale. According to reports in the Belgian press, the recalled products had been produced at Coca-Cola's facility in the city of Ghent since November.

AFFECTED MANY COUNTRIES

It was reported that the recalled Coca-Cola products were sold not only in Belgium but also in the Netherlands, the UK, Germany, France, and Luxembourg.

WHAT IS CHLORATE?

Chlorate emerges as a byproduct of the use of chlorine-based disinfectants in water treatment and food processing. Known by the chemical formula ClO³?, chlorates are considered chemically hazardous substances due to their ability to easily oxidize organic compounds.
