Famous French actress sends letter to Erdoğan regarding stray animals

World-renowned French actress and animal rights activist Brigitte Bardot has written a letter to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan calling for the withdrawal of the bill concerning stray dogs in Turkey.
The 89-year-old famous actress, who is the founder of the Brigitte Bardot Foundation for animal rights, urged Erdoğan, "Do not allow Turkey to become a country that will be vilified and criticized for its cruelty toward these sentient beings, who are our most loyal friends."
In the letter, which was obtained by the AFP news agency, Bardot added that stray cats and dogs in Turkey have lived "in harmony with the public" until now.

In 2012, the French actress also wrote a letter to then-President Abdullah Gül to express her concern regarding the regulation on the collection of animals and their transfer to "natural parks" within the framework of the Animal Protection Law Bill in Turkey.
