Farah Pahlavi calls on security forces in Iran

Farah Pahlavi, who left her country in 1979 alongside Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and has lived in exile for years, has clearly stated her position on the protests that have been ongoing in Iran for over two weeks. In a public announcement, the 87-year-old Pahlavi called on security forces to listen to the demonstrators and join the protesters.

In her statement, Pahlavi said, "No government's survival and no privilege's protection can justify the shedding of your fellow citizens' blood." Addressing the security personnel, the former empress urged them, "Listen to the cries of anger. Unite with the protesters; join them before it is too late."

DEMANDS MUST BE HEARD

In the message she released, Farah Pahlavi emphasized that the demands of the demonstrators must be heard. Pointing out that internet access has been restricted, Pahlavi noted that this situation has significantly hindered the flow of information. Speaking to the citizens, Pahlavi said, "Dark minds have cut off your communication with the world so that your voice would not be heard. However, your message is too powerful to be silenced."

Her son, Reza Pahlavi, had also recently made similar statements in support of the protests. The name of Reza Pahlavi, who lives in the United States, is frequently echoed in the demonstrations in Iran.

Farah Pahlavi concluded her message with emotional words directed at the Iranian people: "Be strong and believe that you will soon celebrate freedom together in Iran. Light will triumph over darkness." Farah Pahlavi and her husband left Iran on January 16, 1979, and shortly after this development, the leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, returned to the country.
