It was noted that the sign hung at the airport's passenger drop-off area reads, “Maximum hug time 3 minutes. For longer farewells, please use the car park.” Dunedin Airport CEO Dan De Bono said, “We are trying to take a slightly fun approach. After all, this is an airport and these drop-off points are usually farewell areas, but staying for a long time causes some problems.”
