Father's horror in İzmir: He killed his 6-year-old daughter and wounded the other

The incident occurred around 22:00 at a house located on 3721 Street in the Abdi İpekçi neighborhood.

According to the information obtained, Umut A. (34), who had been living apart from his wife for some time and was alleged to have psychological problems, wanted to reconcile with his wife through relatives. When his wife, E.A. (30), rejected the reconciliation request, Umut A. said he wanted to collect his belongings and took his daughters, Tuğçe Akbaş (6) and S.A. (10), to the house where he was living. At this point, Umut A., who allegedly suffered a mental breakdown in the house, shot his daughter Tuğçe Akbaş in the head and S.A. in the abdomen with his handgun. As the children collapsed to the ground covered in blood, Umut A. shot himself in the head with the same gun. Upon the notification of those who heard the gunshots, police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.

THEY WERE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL

Tuğçe Akbaş, who was shot by her father, was taken to Bozyaka Training and Research Hospital, while her father, Umut A., and S.A. were taken to Atatürk Training and Research Hospital. Despite all interventions at the hospital, 6-year-old Tuğçe could not be saved and lost her life. It was learned that the father, Umut A., and 10-year-old S.A. are in critical condition. Tuğçe Akbaş's body was taken to the İzmir Forensic Medicine Institute morgue after the examination by the prosecutor.

The investigation initiated regarding the incident is ongoing.
